January 11, Mrs. Evdokia Achilleos from EASME presented the ICT4Water cluster at the Connected Smart Cities Conference (#CSCC18) organized by Open and Agile Smart Cities (OASC). The session Natural Resources – Digital Water and Beyond, which was co-chaired with WssTP and AOIT, provided very good opportunity to present the ICT4Water cluster and its achievements so far as well as discuss on following actions. Overall the session emphasized that the digitalization of water infrastructure requires an integrative approach that will break the still existing silos between municipalities, water utilities and the ICT sector. At the conference’s closing plenary session, Commissioner Mariya Gabriel addressed the audience via pre-recorded video message. She referred to the contribution of standardization bodies like “ETSI standardization groups regarding cities digital profile”. She also mentioned that according to Eurobarometer 75% of the citizens believe that digitalization is positive but at the same time 74% believe that digitization turns obsolete more job positions than it creates.
