Vienna, 4-6 December 2018.
Eight members of the ICT4Water cluster presented their innovative solutions concerning digital water management at the ICT 2018: Imagine Digital – Connect Europe event.
The ICT4Water cluster, with the support of the the Executive Agency for SMEs – Sector Eco-innovation (EASME B.2.1) and the European Commission DG CONNECT – Smart Mobility & Living (CNECT H.5) organized two open sessions and set up an information booth in this important event.
During the session “EU funded projects towards a Smart Water Task Force”, four projects receiving over 14 million € by the EU through the programmes Horizon 2020 and LIFE presented their extraordinary results in using ICT solutions in different activities of the water value chain. Some of the main innovations presented were serious games, decision support systems, and digital services for interacting with consumers regarding different water value chains such as water reservoirs monitoring, water distributions systems and consumption, and the water energy nexus.
The second session, ICT4Water cluster and the digitalization of the water domain, had a more methodological nature and focused on technical standards, the implementation of the ICT4Water “Action Plan for a digital single market of water services” and on a reference model for water value chains. The main outcomes of the discussion were that digitalization in the water sector has advanced a lot the last few years including aspects such as standardization and interoperability. ETSI will take into account these advances in their future work to extend SAREF to the water domain. The appetite for ICT enabled water solutions is expected to increase partly due to the requirement for more circular approaches in water management.
The members of the ICT4Water cluster took full advantage of the opportunities offered by the information booth to display their solutions and network with other participants.
The opportunity to showcase in important events such as ICT2018 is one of the advantages that ICT4Water cluster members get from their free-of-charge membership.
